Our Valentine Party
I remember when I was in school, well in elementary school, how fun it was to have a Valentine's Day party. It was so fun to give Valentine's to each other and to decorate some sort of "mailbox". And also to eat lots of yummy treats! Since my children are now homeschooled, I didn't want to them miss out on Valentine fun. So on Friday, our last day of school for the week before Valentine's Day we had a party. I had filled treat bags for the kids, we made mailbox sacks for the kids to put valentines in and I had them fill out Valentine's for each other. I had bought a few boxes of cards last year when they were 90% off so I had PLENTY of cards to go around. I didn't ever imagine by the next year I would be homeschooling! I also had the kids write on different cards what is something they like about each other. That way they all had quite a few cards to read. It was a hit with them! We also decorated our kitchen with red, pink & white! We used construction paper to make paper chains, hearts and butterfly hearts! The room looked rather festive! It was a great valentine's party!!
Funny story. Mya woke me up Friday saying "Happy Holiday!" Then she told me " Happy Valentine's Day!". I reminded her that it wasn't really until Sunday. She said she knew but she was SO excited for our party that day!

Happy Valentine's Day

So sad. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I don't get to be with my "Valentine". The love of my life. My best friend that I married over 7 years ago. Okay, enough being so sappy. But for real. I love my husband SOOO much. I miss him SOOO much. It's almost been 2 months since I've seen him. That is longest we've ever gone without seeing each other and most days it's unbearable. (that is why we talk on the phone about an average of 7 times a day for about 30 minutes at a time!) I can't wait until one week from TODAY! He'll be coming back to get us all moved to Tennessee! I can't wait to be together again. It's so lonely with out my best friend, my true love by my side. I love you Ryan! Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

Terrific Tuesday
Are Tuesdays usually a good day for most people?!?! In my previous post I wrote about my "Typical" no good Monday. Today started out good. It started out by getting some much needed refreshing sleep. I woke up to the bright sun shining in my bedroom window. We all got up early (well, at 8am which is now "early" for us!) Ate breakfast and got ready to start our day. We were at the kitchen table at 9:30am sharp to start off our school day. We got down to business right away and accomplished SO much. And to my surprise we were done with school by 11:30am. Mason and Mya corporated greatly so I could really get down to business with teaching Jordan his lessons. He took in the info, did his worksheets and even took a test! The day went smoothly. I love days like this where things go better than expected. Later on in the day Jordan said something about how good today was. He actually said, "hey Mom, today was TERRIFIC TUESDAY!" When I look back over today, nothing HUGE happened...yet it still seemed like a great day! Thank you God for today!

Typical Monday I suppose
I always hear of people dreading Mondays. Mondays aren't really a bad day for me. Basically the same as any other day for a stay at home mom. Well, today I believe I experienced a "Typical Monday" to the outside world. The type of Monday people dread. Where everything goes wrong, where you are SO tired from the weekend. So today was a typical Monday, I suppose.
My Monday started in the wee hours of the morning. Little Gracie Ann decided to make a stinky diaper at 1:30am. So I had no choice but to change her. Of course she didn't stay asleep during that change. She woke up. WIDE AWAKE! But I figured she'd fall back asleep once we layed down in bed (yes, she usually sleeps with me after I go to bed). NOPE! She was bright eyed. She was making all kinds of sounds. Even laughing. I tried nursing her which worked for about 5 minutes. Again she was trying to stand up holding the headboard of the bed. When she was laying down she was flapping her arms and legs in excitement! She never cried (until i tried laying her in her bed). She was just wide awake. I would have let her cry...except..I would have rather had her happily awake than have the other 3 wake up from her screaming. I looked at my clock...it was after 2am...then after 3am...yup..i was up with her until 3:15am! Then Mya crawled into my bed. By 6:30am I had Gracie, Mya & Mason all in my bed. Jordan was at the foot of my bed at 7:50am. We all then slept till 9am. School is suppose to start at 9:30am (well, that is what time i'd like it to start).
10am...we finally got around to starting school. Only to have Mason be totally uncorporative. He was climbing all over the table, Gracie was crying, Mya was getting impatient waiting for me to explain her lesson. Jordan did NOT feel like doing school. (at least not with all those distractions). We got thru a few lessons. Then it was lunch time. Mason was again climbing on everything. He was extra fussy today due to a cold. I had the worst headache because I was so tired from lack of sleep. Right after lunch the kids were not getting along AT ALL. The words "typical Monday" kept going thru my mind. I just took some deep breaths...and continued trucking thru my day. I can't even remember all the mishaps..nothing big..but it seemed like every little thing was going wrong. Mason wouldn't take a nap but that turned out to be a very good thing. He went to sleep by 8pm with no issues. By 9pm...my typical monday came to a close. Wonder what a Typical Tuesday is like? Hopefully it goes a little smoother than a typical Monday.

Homeschooling 101
We did it...I DID IT!!!! We survived our first day of homeschooling. I felt like I was in a class or something. (hence the name...homeschooling 101). I found myself constantly jotting down notes of what works and what doesn't. Or as other ideas popped in my head I wrote those down too. We started the morning off by waking up at 7:30am. I was laying in bed nursing Gracie and Jordan came rushing in all excited about "the first day of homeschool". We ate breakfast, got dressed and were all ready to start at 9am. We started the morning off with a Bible lesson from Mason's Toddler Bible. I wanted to do something with all 3 of them and include Mason. Then I had Mason coloring a picture while I started with Jordan's writing lesson. I don't actually have his curriculum yet (it's ordered already, we are just waiting for it to arrive). So I'm just kinda working with what I have. I think it will go even smoother once I don't have to actually write up the lesson plans. I'm just kinda pieceing together lessons for now. Mya has been working in some preschool workbooks I have. I found it a bit challenging at first to get each one doing something different. But I got that all figured out. I just have to have Mya and Mason busy then I can spend as much time as needed explaining the lesson to Jordan. I thought I had enough lessons to last us until 1pm today. (with a snack break in the morning and a lunch break). We were almost done by 10am!!! So while they were working on an art project (i didn't have this planned but they REALLY wanted to paint so I let them) I scrambled around and got some more lessons together. We finished around 1pm. The day went REALLY well considering I didn't have any curriculum yet. I think this is going to be a GREAT thing. I love watching my kids learn. I love having them all home with me all day. I love watching them try to teach each other. It was a great day! I'm excited for tomorrow.
